Relational Database

Technical Definition – A database model that stores data in a set of formally described tables from which the data can be accessed or reassembled in many different ways without having to reorganize the database tables.

Layman’s Definition – A database designed to break large amounts of data into smaller pieces that can be tied back together in order to reduce redundancy.

How we use it – While NoSQL databases are gaining popularity, the most common database type for storing and reporting on data is relational databases.  Therefore, we have a lot of experience designing, implementing, and querying relational databases.
